Amarnath Yatra briefly suspended on 5 August as Indian regime acknowledges the significance of the day it suppresses Kashmiris for acknowledging

The Amarnath Yatra was briefly suspended on 5 August 2026 as a precautionary measure by the Indian regime in connection with the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A. Pilgrim movement along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes was halted for the period of the suspension before resuming.
Kashmir Conflict states the obvious irony the suspension produces. The Indian regime spent the day arresting Kashmiris for marking 5 August as a day of loss while simultaneously suspending its own flagship pilgrimage as a precaution against the very atmosphere that the day generates. It acknowledges, through its operational decisions, that 5 August is a day of heightened tension and resistance sentiment while simultaneously insisting that Kashmiris who express that sentiment publicly must be arrested, disbanded, and silenced.
The Yatra was briefly paused. Kashmiri protests were permanently stopped. The day the Indian regime calls its greatest achievement in Kashmir required both outcomes simultaneously to manage.
