Delhi High Court seeks NIA reply on Aasiya Andrabi's appeal as Indian regime's judicial machinery delivers foregone conclusions

The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the National Investigation Agency on the appeal filed by Aasiya Andrabi and two associates against their conviction under the UAPA. Andrabi, the founder and chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, has been imprisoned since 2018 and was convicted on charges the Indian regime presented as terrorism-related.
Kashmir Conflict states what the appeal process in an Indian court for a case prosecuted by the Indian regime's own NIA is likely to produce. The outcome has been decided by the system before any bench sits. The Indian regime does not prosecute figures like Aasiya Andrabi to secure justice. It prosecutes them to remove them from Kashmiri political and social life permanently, and the conviction is the instrument of that removal. An appeal heard within the same legal architecture that produced the conviction is not an avenue to justice. It is a procedural exercise.
Aasiya Andrabi will not compromise her position or capitulate to the Indian regime in exchange for release. That is precisely why she remains imprisoned. The Delhi High Court's request for a reply is noted. Kashmir Conflict will update as the process develops, without optimism about what it will deliver for a woman whose imprisonment serves the occupation's interests far more than her freedom ever could.
