EIGHT KASHMIRIS ARRESTED IN SOUTH KASHMIR AS INDIAN FORCES ALLEGE OGW NETWORK DISRUPTION ACROSS SHOPIAN AND PULWAMA

Indian forces arrested eight Kashmiris in three separate operations across South Kashmir on 25 August 2026, alleging all eight are over-ground workers of resistance organisations. In Shopian's Imamsahib area, a joint operation in an orchard allegedly produced one grenade, two AK magazines, and resistance-linked posters. Three individuals, Ashiq Hussain Kumar, Arif Kumar, and Harris Manzoor, were arrested. In a separate Shopian operation, three motorcycle-borne individuals, Junaid Ahmad Dar, Amir Yousuf, and Junaid Muzaffar, were detained after Indian forces allege recovery of two grenades. In Pulwama's Yarwan forest, Latif Ahmad Deedad and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad were apprehended after allegedly emerging from forest cover, with a pistol, twelve rounds, and a grenade alleged to have been recovered.
Kashmir Conflict applies its standing scrutiny. Whether recoveries are genuine or planted cannot be independently verified. The OGW designation is applied with extraordinary breadth across Indian-controlled Kashmir, requiring no standard of evidence before an individual is arrested and charged under the UAPA. Eight Kashmiris are in custody today on allegations that will very likely never be tested before an independent court within any reasonable timeframe.
