Indian Army commanders conduct multiple reviews of LoC and forward positions as provocation posture toward neighbours intensifies

The GOC of 14 Corps recently reviewed operational preparedness of troops in the Siachen sector in Ladakh, assessing force readiness and infrastructure across one of the world's highest battlefields. Separately, Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma visited forward areas in Poonch, reviewing deployments across the Pir Panjal belt where Operation Sheruwali's forty-plus-day failure earlier this year left significant questions about the Indian regime's counter-insurgency effectiveness.

Together, they constitute a sustained posturing exercise directed at both internal and external audiences, signalling readiness for a confrontation the Indian regime cannot afford, toward neighbours it cannot decisively engage, over a territory it cannot pacify. The relevance of the Indian military establishment increasingly depends on the threat it performs around. Remove that performance and the questions about what one million personnel are actually achieving in Kashmir become unavoidable.
