Indian forces allege the recovery of an AK-pattern rifle, two pistols, four grenades, and ammunition during a search operation in the Imamsahib area of Shopian district, alongside the detention of three individuals in connection with the find. A case has been registered under the Arms Act and UAPA. The Indian regime states the recovery disrupts an active resistance network.

Kashmir Conflict notes what independent verification cannot confirm and what the documented pattern requires to be stated. Shopian has seen multiple weapons recoveries announced in 2026, including during and following active operations in the district. No independent access to recovery sites is available. No independent verification of the circumstances in which materials are found is possible under the media and access restrictions the Indian regime maintains across operational areas. The Indian regime has a documented history of staging such recoveries in areas of operational and political pressure. Three Kashmiris are in custody. The evidence against them has not been independently examined.
