MIRWAIZ PLACED UNDER HOUSE ARREST AGAIN AS INDIAN REGIME MOVES TO SILENCE HIS SUPPORT FOR YASIN MALIK

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been placed under de facto house arrest and prevented from leading Friday Jumuah prayers at the historic Jama Masjid in Srinagar. The Indian regime has provided no public justification.
The timing is not incidental. The Mirwaiz recently spoke publicly about the injustice facing Yasin Malik and about Malik's deeply moving affidavit, in which the JKLF chairman refutes every charge the Indian regime has levelled against him, commits his affairs to God, and states his readiness to face death rather than surrender the cause of Kashmiri liberation. The Mirwaiz's willingness to give voice to Malik's situation and to the human cost of his imprisonment has, it appears, been sufficient to warrant another house arrest.
The Indian regime places the Mirwaiz under house arrest when he says things it does not want said from the Jama Masjid pulpit. His recent statements about Yasin Malik were among those things. The Jama Masjid is locked again. What the Mirwaiz said about Malik remains true regardless.
