Indian regime bars Shia procession in Baramulla in further act of selective religious suppression

Indian regime authorities have prevented a Shia religious procession from proceeding in Baramulla district, barring participants from conducting the commemorative event. No credible security justification has been provided.
Kashmir Conflict notes the pattern this prohibition sits within. Amarnath Yatra pilgrims have moved through Indian-controlled Kashmir in their hundreds of thousands under the protection of 670 paramilitary companies and NSG commandos. Hindu pilgrims film Kashmiri women without consent, leave waste across Kashmiri public spaces, and in documented incidents physically attack Kashmiri civilians, without consequence. A Muharram procession was permitted in Srinagar weeks ago, selectively, as Kashmir Conflict documented at the time, as a tool of sectarian division rather than as any genuine recognition of religious freedom.
Now a Shia procession in Baramulla is barred. The Indian regime does not protect religious freedom in Indian-controlled Kashmir. It manages religious expression as an instrument of control, permitting what serves the occupation's interests and banning what does not. Kashmiri Muslims, Sunni and Shia alike, are permitted to practice their faith on the occupation's terms or not at all.
