Israeli national apprehended with drugs in Ladakh as Israeli presence across Kashmir and Ladakh demands scrutiny
ALLNEWS

An Israeli national has been apprehended by Indian regime authorities in Ladakh in possession of narcotics. The individual was travelling in the region, as many Israeli nationals do, under the cover of backpacking tourism.
Kashmir Conflict states what the broader context of Israeli presence across Kashmir and Ladakh requires to be noted. Israeli nationals have been a consistent and documented presence across the region for decades, arriving in significant numbers under the guise of post-military service backpacking travel. That presence has never been purely civilian. Israeli military and intelligence personnel have been documented operating in advisory and intelligence-sharing capacities alongside Indian forces across Indian-controlled Kashmir and Ladakh, in a relationship between the Israeli and Indian regimes that has deepened substantially since 2019 and encompasses defence procurement, surveillance technology, and counter-insurgency doctrine.
An Israeli national caught with drugs in Ladakh is on one level a routine narcotics arrest. On another, it is a small piece of the veil falling from a pattern of Israeli presence in this region that has never been limited to backpackers and has never been adequately scrutinised.
