Kashmiri teenage girl rescued from prostitution racket in Indian-controlled Punjab as pattern of trafficking Kashmiri women and girls out of the territory deepens

A teenage girl from the Rehari area of Jammu was rescued from a prostitution racket operating in Amritsar, Indian-controlled Punjab, on 8 July 2026, after being lured away from her home on 30 June while travelling to sit an examination at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Bakshi Nagar. Her family filed a missing complaint on 3 July. Indian regime police used human intelligence and technical surveillance to track and rescue her eight days after she disappeared. Three individuals have been arrested, including one personally known to the victim.
The rescue came a day after Srinagar police recovered three separate minor Kashmiri girls from Amritsar in a coordinated operation with Punjab police, within 72 hours of their disappearance.
Kashmir Conflict states what four Kashmiri girls recovered from a prostitution racket in Indian-controlled Punjab within days of each other makes plain. These are not unconnected incidents. They are data points in a documented and worsening pattern of Kashmiri women and girls being lured, trafficked, and exploited across India, through networks that operate with a consistency and reach that demands systemic examination. Kashmir Conflict has documented 509 minor girls reported missing in Indian-controlled Kashmir in 2023 alone, in Indian-regime figures widely understood to be a significant undercount.
The question asked in every such case remains the same and remains unanswered: how do Kashmiri girls move out of the most heavily militarised and surveilled territory on earth, across Indian-controlled Punjab, and into prostitution rackets, without the knowledge or complicity of the structures controlling every route in and out? Indian-controlled Punjab is not a foreign country. It is territory under the same Indian regime that maintains total surveillance over every road leaving Kashmir. That the girls ended up there, in these circumstances, is not a coincidence that policing alone can explain.
