Mirwaiz and political puppets condemn Aarif Hussain's murder and demand probe. Their condemnation costs them nothing.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and a number of installed Kashmiri political figures have issued statements condemning the killing of Aarif Hussain in Bhaderwah and demanding an independent probe into the circumstances of his death. The APHC has also condemned the killing.
Kashmir Conflict notes the condemnations without overstating their significance. Aarif Hussain was shot dead by Indian forces. His pregnant wife took to the streets in protest. The Indian regime responded with disinformation, an internet blackout, and restrictions on demonstrations. In that context, a statement of condemnation from figures who govern under and derive their political existence from the Indian regime's permission carries limited weight.
The demand for a probe is noted. What such a probe would consist of in Indian-controlled Kashmir, where the investigating agency is the same apparatus that conducted the killing, where AFSPA provides effective immunity to the forces involved, and where previous probe demands in similar cases have produced nothing, is a question none of the condemning parties have answered. Words are issued. Aarif Hussain remains dead. His family is still waiting.
