New CASO launched in Surankote, Poonch, after sightings of two separate resistance cadre groups reported

Indian forces have launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the Surankote area of Poonch district following intelligence inputs alleging the sighting of at least two separate groups of resistance cadre moving through the area. Indian Army, CRPF, and SOG units have been deployed across the terrain. No contact has been confirmed and no further details are available at the time of reporting.
Surankote sits within the Pir Panjal belt that has been the site of sustained and intensifying resistance activity throughout 2026, encompassing Operation Sheruwali's forty-plus-day failure in the adjacent Manjakote sector, fresh PAFF and Kashmir Tigers sightings, and a GOC-level operational review of the entire Rajouri-Poonch theatre. Intelligence inputs of resistance cadre movement in Surankote are consistent with the documented operational pattern across the belt. Whether this CASO produces a confirmed result, or joins the long list of operations across the Pir Panjal that have ended without one, remains to be seen.
