Newly installed IGP Kashmir calls for dismantling resistance despite Indian regime claiming it already broke its back years ago

Sujit Kumar, the Indian national newly installed as Inspector General of Police for the Kashmir Zone, has issued his first public statement pledging to dismantle the resistance infrastructure in Indian-controlled Kashmir and calling on Kashmiris to cooperate with the Indian regime's security apparatus, stating that the zonal police is always there for you.
Kashmir Conflict notes the contradiction this statement produces without effort. The Indian regime has claimed, repeatedly and publicly, that it has broken the back of Kashmiri resistance, that the territory is normalising, and that armed activity has been comprehensively degraded since 2019. If that is true, what exactly is the newly installed IGP pledging to dismantle? If the resistance infrastructure still requires dismantling, the Indian regime's claims of having already achieved this are false. Both cannot simultaneously be accurate. Kumar's statement answers the question the Indian regime will not directly address: the resistance is alive, it is active, and a foreign national installed over Kashmir's police force has just confirmed it by making its dismantlement his stated priority on his first day in the role.
