A special NIA court in New Delhi has ordered that Democratic Freedom Party chief Shabir Ahmad Shah should not be unnecessarily handcuffed during his transfer between prison and court, citing his age and health. The order followed his court appearance on 25 August 2026 in connection with one of the multiple cases the Indian regime has brought against him across decades of imprisonment.

The court's order has drawn two distinct reactions. Some read it as a rare act of institutional compassion toward a man who has spent close to forty years in Indian detention, is in deteriorating health, and urgently requires medical procedures the Indian regime has consistently delayed. Others, including voices within the Kashmiri resistance community, note a darker possibility: that relaxing physical restraints on a high-profile political prisoner whose continued imprisonment is inconvenient to the Indian regime creates conditions in which a staged incident, a false flag alleging an escape attempt or attack on guards, becomes operationally plausible. The Indian regime has form in manufacturing pretexts. Shabir Shah's family and supporters are watching this development with care.
