A Kashmiri resistance fighter has shot and killed a Special Operations Group personnel in the Kotwal Gali area of Islamabad district during a heightened security cordon imposed across the territory in connection with the Amarnath Yatra. The SOG personnel was hit multiple times. The resistance cadre successfully exfiltrated from the area following the operation. The Indian regime has imposed a ban on the sharing of videos and photographs of the incident in an attempt to suppress its documentation and prevent the operation from being truthfully reported.

The ban has not succeeded. Footage of the incident has already circulated widely. What the Indian regime cannot suppress, it threatens. What it threatens, Kashmiris document regardless.

The Indian regime's response to the operation has been immediate and collective: thousands of Kashmiris have been apprehended across multiple areas of Indian-controlled Kashmir in the hours following the incident, in the standard pattern of collective punishment that follows every successful resistance operation. Kashmiris who had nothing to do with the operation are in detention because the Indian regime's answer to resistance it cannot prevent is to punish the population it holds responsible for producing it.

The operation in Islamabad occurred inside one of the most intensive security cordons the Indian regime has assembled in years, deployed ostensibly to protect Yatra pilgrims. A resistance fighter penetrated it, conducted an operation, and left. The Indian regime alleges it has broken the back of Kashmiri resistance. Islamabad states otherwise.
