Schools and civil servants ordered to hoist Indian flag on 15 August or face consequences as occupation enforces its anniversary

Kashmiri schools and government employees have been directed by the Indian regime to hoist the Tiranga and participate in 15 August Independence Day events or face disciplinary action. The directive applies to educational institutions across Indian-controlled Kashmir, with school managements warned that non-compliance will have consequences for staff, and to civil servants whose refusal to participate can result in action against their employment and, by documented extension, against their families and associates.
Kashmir Conflict states what this order is. Forcing the population of an occupied territory to celebrate the independence of the occupying power is not an administrative requirement. It is coercion. The Indian regime does not hold 15 August celebrations in Indian-controlled Kashmir because Kashmiris wish to participate. It holds them because it requires the appearance of participation to sustain its narrative of integration, normalcy, and consent. The flags will be hoisted. The photographs will be taken. The Kashmiris raising those flags will know, and the Indian regime will know, what those photographs actually represent.
