SIA raids nine locations across Indian-controlled Kashmir in 36-year-old double murder case as occupation's reach into the past continues

The State Investigation Agency conducted searches at nine locations across Indian-controlled Kashmir on 12 August 2026 in connection with FIR No. 45/1990 registered at Police Station Dooru in Anantnag, relating to the killing of two individuals in the Dooru area in 1990. Electronic devices, documents, and other materials were seized across the nine locations. The SIA states the raids form part of its reinvestigation of unresolved militancy-related cases from the 1990s.

Thirty-six years later, the Indian regime's investigation agency is entering Kashmiri homes across nine locations in search of evidence for a double murder that occurred during the opening years of the armed resistance. The SIA has made a practice of reinvestigating decades-old cases, using them to justify fresh raids, fresh seizures, and fresh harassment of families connected, however tangentially, to events that predate the adult lives of many Kashmiris currently living in the affected homes.
The Indian regime calls this bringing closure to pending cases. Kashmir Conflict states what it is: the use of thirty-six-year-old case files to maintain the Indian regime's legal reach into every corner of Kashmiri life, past and present, without any statute of limitations constraining what it can do or whose door it can knock on next.
