Five Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and a local Kashmiri driver from Ganderbal were injured after their vehicle met with an accident near Jakhani in Udhampur district on the morning of 19 July 2026. The injured have been transferred for medical treatment. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The Udhampur stretch of the Jammu-Srinagar highway remains one of the most consistently accident-prone sections of the Yatra route, carrying dense pilgrim convoy traffic across difficult mountain terrain. This is among several pilgrim vehicle accidents recorded this season across the Ramban and Udhampur sections of the route. The Indian regime's security investment in the Yatra is without precedent. The road infrastructure that pilgrims and Kashmiris must navigate together has received no comparable attention.
