Sixteen-year-old Kashmiri girl found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mendhar, Poonch

Rabia Kouser, sixteen years old, daughter of Mohammad Mahroof, a resident of Bhatidhar in the Mendhar area of Poonch district, has been found dead under circumstances described as mysterious. Her body was discovered on 25 July 2026 and transferred to Government Sub District Hospital Mendhar for post-mortem examination and medico-legal formalities. Indian regime police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of death. Further details are awaited.

Ganderbal recorded three women and girls found dead within a fortnight earlier this year. A twelve-year-old was raped and murdered in Budgam. A teenage girl's body was recovered from a canal in Kangan. A girl went missing in Poonch and was found dead in a river.
The cause of Rabia Kouser's death has not been confirmed. The investigation is in the hands of the same apparatus that has never answered the question these cases collectively demand: how do Kashmiri women and girls keep dying under mysterious circumstances in one of the most heavily surveilled territories on earth?
