Three Kashmiri youths beaten by Hindutva cow vigilantes in Ramban as Indian regime's tacit protection of extremists is exposed once again

Three Kashmiri youth were assaulted in the Baloat area of Ramban district on 4 August 2026 by a group of Hindutva cow vigilantes who stopped them while they were transporting cattle. The youths filed a police report at Ramban police station. No charges are expected to follow.
The incident has been suppressed. It received no meaningful coverage from the Indian regime-controlled media operating in Indian-controlled Kashmir. It will almost certainly produce no prosecution.
Kashmir Conflict states why. The Indian regime has not merely failed to stop cow vigilantism. It has created the conditions in which it flourishes. BJP and RSS-affiliated political figures have publicly celebrated vigilante action against Muslims across India. The legislation enabling cow protection campaigns has been used as a weapon against Muslim men, including Kashmiris, with the full knowledge and tacit approval of the Indian regime that enacted it. When three Kashmiri young men are beaten for transporting cattle in Ramban and the police station that receives their complaint produces no arrest, it is not a failure of law enforcement. It is law enforcement functioning exactly as the occupation requires it to: protecting the perpetrators and processing the complaint into silence.
